What is Interstate Scholars?

Interstate Scholars is a nonprofit organization that runs a high school exchange program within the United States. Its goal is to give strong, compassionate, and under-resourced students access to the school exchange experience. Not only do students who participate in exchange programs have an increased chance of continuing their education after high school, they get hands-on experience with a different community and its ideas, struggles, and triumphs. This helps them grow into the leaders America needs.

Our goal: Develop the natural advantages of student leaders from under-resourced communities: grit, resilience, resourcefulness, and empathy. Promote their recognition of American cultural variety by letting them live, study, and volunteer in an out-of-state community. Encourage them to set far-reaching goals. Empower them to reach those goals.
